And you often need such a "semi-tie" starting at the same time as a big slur. I think that when you need two slurs beginning simultainously one of them always is to stop at the next note. Erik satie uses it very frequently. Take a look at some of his gnossiennes (The originals - not the ones I typed on mutopia). -Rune
