That's maybe a good idea, but you should check-out the --outdir option
of lilypond-book.  Don't clutter your sources with generated stuff and
do 'rm ...', some day you'll type

   rm 1* 2 *

Just before you get tired of typing 'rm ...' all the time, that's
usually the ideal time to write a makefile, to do 'make foo.ps',
'make clean'.
