I think the best bet would be to create the scriptable installer.
For something meant for non-wizards, "let's make it scriptable" often
has the effect of being a method of ducking the hard job of deciding
on the actual interface.
There's nothing wrong with having scripting capability, of course.
But the important point is to make the interface easy to use.
