Sorry for the offense ... i was refering of #freetard which have been be
created because of the misanderstood of the word "hacker"
But i agree your point of view of that word, and know that "hackers are
not crackers".
For the rest, of the message i don't think that create just one distro
for all form of use is a so wrong idea.
I think that an only one distro which respond to the needs of everyone
everywhere is becoming usual ... android is the example of the distro
which will be everywhere tomorrow.
Today, if all people from all free distro join in only one behind RMS as
the top leader to respond to all sort of needs :
. desktop computers (accessible version)
. desktop computers (hackers version)
. laptops
. servers
. smartphones
. domotics
. robotics
. airplanes
. cars
. ...
(because yes i prefer to have a gnu in my phone, in my car, ...)
You will be more clear for simple users (as just have said my wife
agreeing that point)
The fact is that for most of people like us, which live in the GNU
world, we easely understand all difference, from external people, it's
just a wonderfull mess, which create a frontier.
Now the fact is if really you decide to launch that project, other
distro will naturally died because dev will join this project. And so
it's maybe better to announce directly to join all in one, to organize
this "transition".
At this time we are all divided behind each project, this can be the
tomorrow where we will be ONE, United behind one project, one top
leader.
And last point, that can be a cool to someone who have create this
univers.
Maybe "GNU Hackers" as name can be the way to clear the situation about
the misanderstood on that word.
