That is an interesting point!
Curretly, all the "area"s are indeed numbers of pixels, but not all "numbers"
are areas!
The sigma-clip number column gives the number of pixels used for sigma-clip
measurements. The sigma-clipping may result in non-contiguous "area"s and
result in confusing the users. Also, mixing the spatial meaning of "area" with
sigma-clipping will further confuse readers.
If this doesn't convince you please feel free to continue the discussion here;
but for the time being, I think it is better to close this "bug" ;-).
