Presently the client will advise the availability of 0.3.11 however  
the user may not realize that this is a tarball and may not reflect a  
packaged release.

Might be manageable for the 'New version" information to prepend
        - unpackaged version

or if it is desired to save the manual changes to the file gnumed- 
versions.txt to instead say

        - version may or may not be in a packaged form
