It's just that they cannot yet be entered right from the new-person dialog.
I did not mean to suggest GNUmed is unable to do it, I only suggest that the identifiers are most important for interaction with external systems and of the doctor has staff who must interact with the external systems then such identifiers may already exist in these other systems and the doctor might not go the the trouble of entering them in GNUmed especially if it would be an extra workflow to do so.
