Considering another FOSS project which is cross-platform, and which I
know quite well, the Linux users wouldn't be worried. They'd read a
file called INSTALL somewhere in a directory called docs and get the
instructions.
Mac users have usually done a lot of work to get the program to install
and have their answers off the net or the mailing list.
However, Windows users give rise to the biggest number of queries on
installation and basic computer matters. 

Vaibhav, I think your observation has some merit.
