I think that's the case in fact :) so don't hesitate.

I think it may be great to try giving more regular feedback on the
mailing list this year -- I didn't really track the progresses last
year but would have been interested.
Something as simple as each student sending an email with a few lines
of text every week describing the past week effort and the plan for
the coming week would be great (nothing that'd take more than 5
minutes to write, really).
