32bit GS on 64bit Win rebuild base from src

Subject: 32bit GS on 64bit Win rebuild base from src

Setup:
    w2k8 r2 x64
    GNUstep installed using 32-bit installer


Goal:
    Rebuild just base from source


Procedure:
    check out core/base from svn
    cd core/base; ./configure


Result:
    conftest.exe crashes in FFI library test.


Question:
    Must the host be changed to 32-bit, or can this work somehow?
