We could use your help, then. I wrote the AIS decoder from specifications,
and have had hell's own time putting together a decent set of test pairs.
Because you're running gpsdecode along with other decoders it sounds like
you're in a perfect situation to help us fix this.
(By a "test pair" I nean an AIVDM sentence together with a complete textual
decoding of its fields.)
I've changed the type 5 decoder to allow message lengths down to 420. A
test pair consisting of an off-length message and its decoding would be
useful.
Other things we're looking for:
* Sample sentences of types 16-17, 22-23, and 25-27.
* Sample sentences of type 6 and 8 conforming to IMO236,
IMO289, and the Inland AIS specification.
I've enclosed a copy of the pairs we have. If you can help us improve
our coverage I'd be grateful.
