Hi, Saw this on another list. Thought it may be of interest because of
the `troff -mm' connection. Cheers, Ralph.

It is my pleasure to announce the release of GNU UnRTF 0.21.0 .

This release represents a major upgrade. All compiled-in configurations
have been moved to run-time configuration files, and compiled-in code pages
have been abandoned in favour of iconv. It is now relatively easy to
set up new output formats. With this distribution are included new
configurations for troff + mm macros, and RTF itself. It is also easy to
fine tune the output, e.g. to ignore certain formatting tags, or add
special handling of them.

The coding for this release is predominantly the result of Arkadiusz Firus
working as a Google Summer of Code student.

UnRTF is a command-line program written in C which converts documents
in Rich Text Format (.rtf) to HTML, LaTeX, PostScript, troff, RTF and
potentially other formats. Converting to HTML, it supports a number of
features of Rich Text Format:

    * Changes in the text's font, size, weight (bold), and slant (italic)
    * Underlines and strike-throughs
    * Partial support for text shadowing, outlining, embossing, or engraving
    * Capitalizations
    * Superscripts and subscripts
    * Expanded and condensed text
    * Changes in the foreground and background colours
    * Conversion of special characters to HTML entities

Recent development has concentrated on conversion to HTML, as it can in turn
be converted to other formats. Support for features when converting to
other file formats using unrtf varies.

You can get GNU UnRTF by anonymous ftp from:

  ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/unrtf/unrtf-0.21.0.tar.gz

The GNU UnRTF home page: http://www.gnu.org/software/unrtf/unrtf.html

Please email bugs or suggestions to address@hidden

Changes in this release:

    * run time configuration files for output formats
    * run time configuration files for font encodings
    * arbitrary code-page support using iconv
    * many improvements to reduce the verbosity of output

Happy Converting,

Dave
