Took the oldest Sun man pages I have, formatted them on a Debian
box and searched the resulting 35 MB of text for
/----|____|====/. Found many tables but only one graph, which
was ASCII art.

Then again there were so many warnings from Groff that it's hard
to conclude anything. And that was Solaris 2.5, hardly the
eighties.

(If anybody has old Unix man pages lying around, I'm always
interested BTW.)
