Bug #3404 - Error 28 on memtest86+

I've just stumbled across this bug on my system (it does run an Asus 
A7N266-VM motherboard) and I would really like to get memtest working. 
I'm running Grub-0.97 with the patch posted on 2006-02-07 applied, but it 
did not solve the problem.  What further information can I provide to help 
debug this?
