The package is actually build with native cygwin gcc+binutils.

Sorry, I got out of context.  What was the problem with providing ELF-capable
toolchain in cygwin again?

Yes. But this only better in theory, unless someone maintains such a toolchain for the Cygwin distro.

In practice, there now exists a working grub2 package which builds with native gcc :-)
