Oops, I mixed up two error messages in my last mail. So, to clarify:

The error message "./libtool: test: =: unary operator expected"
disappeared after running libtoolize in guile-core. The message
"./configure: .: /dev/null: not a regular file", still appears in the
following context:

> configure: configuring in libltdl
> configure: running /bin/sh './configure'
> --prefix=/home/dirk/software/guile-debug --disable-deprecated
> --enable-ltdl-convenience --cache-file=/dev/null --srcdir=.
> loading cache /dev/null
> ./configure: .: /dev/null: not a regular file

Thus, still the question: Should I run
   libtoolize --copy --automake --ltdl --force
also in libltdl?

Thanks for your help and sorry for the confusion,
Dirk Herrmann
