I have been hit with problems recently on my Gentoo install whereby I
had configured halevt to start pcscd daemon when I insert my ActivIdenty
SIM Key.
Someone else did something similar in udev, which, because they did
something wrong, borked my system for a while.
I am trying to understand what halevt offers over and above udev.
Please feel free to forward this to a more appropriate mail list.
