After doing  sudo apt-get install python-gtk2 i went to address@hidden:/home/amidus$ cd /home/gnuhealth/.local/bin  and tried to boot up the tryton client with ./tryton.
Here is the result:
address@hidden:~/.local/bin$ ./tryton
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/gtk-2.0/gtk/ GtkWarning: could not open display
  warnings.warn(str(e), _gtk.Warning)

  File "/home/gnuhealth/.local/lib/python2.7/site-packages/tryton/common/", line 68, in load_client_icons

glib.GError: Couldn't recognize the image file format for file '/home/gnuhealth/.local/share/pixmaps/tryton/tryton-preferences-system.svg'

Any idea what to do from here?
Many thanks
