I was able to build 2.0.103 under MinGW without changes (to my
recollection) using the version of gmake.exe found at
ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/source/wintools.zip
I forget where I found this handy tip and Google hasn't provided any
reminders. Anyway, I think it has to do with Mozilla's gmake handling
filespecs (:, / and \, probably) and line endings differing from the
Cygwin version of gmake.
Oh yeah - and this version (
"GNU Emacs 21.0.103.1 (i386-mingw-nt4.0.1381) of 2001-05-30 on JULIET"
) seems to work better in every way than the 19.34.5 I run day to day,
except for some glitchiness in doing (set-face-attribute ... :font ...)
with font-lock and non-iso8859-1 fonts (I like the raster-terminal font
for some syntax classes).
