Just to get more clear than in my last mail, you *should* use gnu make. After 
your response I am not quite sure which one you use.

Not really. I have just a question: what compiler do you use? Could you tell 
that to the list?

Another idea: the code with problems is an old version of expat.

I think we are really entering fink realm here. Currently I am cleaning out 
my office before moving, so I am lacking a bit the calm needed to get in 
touch with the finks. So I would say, maybe the best thing is if you ask the 
finks and similar projects, and tell this list what you learn, and then we'd 
be happy to do our best to get things going on OSX, as many graphics-using 
people use it.
