Is there a more convenient way for doing 'root-things' than
-- get out of emacs (maybe suspend)
-- start a shell
-- sudo editor (usually vi) OR su ... password... editor
Indeed there is -- use "tramp", by doing, e.g.,
C-x C-f /sudo::/etc/passwd RET
Read (info "(emacs)Remote Files")
--
When a cryptographer and a symbologist get together, it
usually ends in tears.
