I used
loadkeys emacs
dumpkeys > jkeys

Then I edited the file "jkeys."  Wherever I saw "AltGr" I changed it to
"Alt."  Then I gzipped the file, and loaded it with loadkeys.  This is
on Slackware 12.0.  Now I have right Alt working.
