Depend on your definition of "hurt". For many people, myself included,
is ugly to the point of being almost unbearable.

I suppose writing Pascal code like this

  if my_condition then begin
    { ... }
  end else begin
    { ... }
  end;

or C code like this

  if (my_condition) { /*...*/ }
  else { /*...*/ }

or worse:

 #define BEGIN {
 #define END }
 #define THEN
 #define ELSE else
 #define IF(c) if ((c))

  IF(my_condition) THEN
    BEGIN
      /* ...*/
    END
  ELSE
    BEGIN
      /*...*/
    END

doesn't really *hurt* anyone. But still...
