That looks like gmail will only let you send emails using
TLS (Transport Layer Security).
This is a scheme that encrypts emails as they are passed
from machine to machine, but are decrypted before you collect them.
Google are probably doing this to protect your SMTP-AUTH (identification/login)
information.
I don't use mew, but look for an for an encryption option,
