Hmm.... I don't have a network.protocal-handler.app.mailto. I see:

network.protocal-handler.expose.mailto -> false
network.protocal-handler.external.mailto -> true
network.protocal-handler.warn-external.mailto -> false

I set email.sh as the handler under Firefox Preferences -> Applications -> 
mailto:

Running Firefox 32.0, Fedora 20, KDE
