Maybe the thing to do would be to have a job which does an occasional "ping" and if it gets through do a "connect"? I need to rethink this a bit. I'll come back in the next week with some ideas. Trouble is of course is that the world and his auntie are using the current system so it'll have to understand the current setup as well and do the same thing.
