If `they' are the maintainers of the code, it is their choice, of
course. They can chose the amount of `correctness' or `elegance' they
want - this is not our job.
What is of concern for the Hurd people is simply that the program in
question _runs_ on GNU/Hurd. If they define any arbitrary limit for
_their_ software, it will run. Maybe one day someone will hit this
limit and wonder why this program fails for them - maybe nobody will.
