Automatic variable to identify parent of current target

Hi,

I can't find an automatic variable (of the form $@, $^, ...) to identify the
parent of the current target. For example:

a : b

b :
        echo $PARENT

$PARENT in target "b" should yield "a".

Your help is much appreciated!
