This is a known problem with 3.79.1; it will be fixed in the next
release.

Just add something like this:

  #ifndef LC_MESSAGES
  # define LC_MESSAGES 0
  #endif

to make.h or gettext.h as a workaround.  It doesn't get used if you
don't have gettext (internationalization), anyway.
