invoking kmatplot 0.4 in Octave-2.1.36

Hi!
I can not use "kplot" to invoke Kmatplot 0.4
in Octave-2.1.36 (nor in 2.1.34).

I get "`kplot' undefined near line ...".
I use SuSE8.0 and KDE3.01.
Any ideas?
