You can do this on a single line...

A=10 , B=30 , C=40

...or this if you prefer to suppress output:

A=10 ; B=30 ; C=40;

Apparently, you *cannot* do this...

[A, B, C] = [10, 30, 40]

...or at least it doesn't do what I'd want it to do (it assigns the whole
vector to A and the B and C are null matrices.
