Not quite. Other NOINSTALL's include parallel (author's choice),
tk_octave (requires specially compiled octave), NaN (replaces
octave functions with non-compatible versions), Windows and
MacOSX (automatically installed for the appropriate OS). The functions in question are those in the NaN toolbox. Since I made the NOINSTALL decision, Alois has
added a lot of useful functions to the NaN toolbox which
don't belong in a NOINSTALL directory. It is perhaps
time to revisit that decision, and see if there might not be a
more fine-grained way in which NOINSTALL could be
applied. I don't think consensus can be reached: some of
us want NaN to be preserved so that we can tell if our
calculation has gone wonky, and others want NaN to be
equivalent to missing data. Octave now has an NA constant
separate from NaN for missing data, but Alois is supporting
both Octave and Matlab with his NaN toolbox, so that isn't
an option for him. It may be that Alois has switches to control
the nan-skipping behaviour that we could default to off for the
standard install, and so Debian could include the nan toolbox
with only a minor performance hit for checking the switch.
