It is much better to simply avoid the issue by not using the original
to understand the method.

If people are looking for a place to learn methods, I'd highly recommend mathworld.wolfram.com as a good starting point. They generally have readable methods for how to perform operations, and they site references for further/deeper reading (http://mathworld.wolfram.com/BicubicSpline.html may help for this one).
