hi quentin my version has "i686-redhat-linux-gnu" inside "/usr/libexec/octave/2.1.71/site/oct"... and i installed "downloaded octave and octave-forge" RPMs using "rpm --nodeps" command.. rebuilding was not done bcaz i was not able to find any suitable rpm.. i got this 2 rpms 1. octave-forge-2005.06.13-1.i386.rpm <- binary 2. octave-forge-2005.06.13-7.fc4.src.rpm <- source but asks for too many dependencies.. plz help !!
