polar plots

hello everyone
i knew from the post

that it is possible to set a useful polar grid to show plots of polar
But i know also there is this strange problem in Octave, since gnuplot
shows you only the portion of the axis where the graph is; i mean,
since e.g. my curves lie only in the region where
-pi/2 <=theta<= pi/2

i can only see the right part of the plane but is it possible to show
the whole 2-D polar plane?
probably someone has faced the same thing in polar plots...

thank you for any answer
