anyone working on bicgstab?

pg 199 of octave manual Edition 3 written in Feb 1997 by John W. Eaton mentions that BiCGSTAB algorithm is not yet implemented in octave. What is the current status? Is anyone working on this? These days, my primary reason for using matlab instead of octave is the lack of BiCGSTAB algorithm in octave 2.9 on a Debian Sid machine.

thanks
raju
