I have seen the script in newer cvs-versions. so I have taken the 2.9.5-Version, where the image files are inside the /doc/image directory.
this should work with

./configure
cd doc
make

or not?


for me, it seems to be an actual installation problem (new notebook .. :-(  )

we would like to do the same system for octplot, even though with the texinfo DOCSTRINGS.
Last week, I made a big improvement, but get in trouble with the installation...
and I don't know, what's wrong ...
comes time, comes a solution...

./configure
cd doc

will get you a bit further, but the figures in the sparse documentation
are built with octave itself as John made the choice to store the script
to create the figures rather than the figures themselves. Therefore, you
CAN'T build the documentation without building octave itself...
