build error octave 2.9.6 gentoo linux

Hello,

Trying to build Octave 2.9.6 .  I downloaded the tar.bz2 ball from
http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/download.html 

I get a pointer casting error.  I've included the g++ version of my system.
