The question is irrelevant. I.e. it is not octave-related, but rather related
to the terminal emulator in which you invoke 'octave'.
Look up PuTTY, MinTTY.
Better yet, use notepad++ instead of Windows notepad - the former has
terminal emulator and is much better as an editor. Get notepad++ from
http://notepad-plus.sourceforge.net/uk/site.htm
