If diary works like fprintf directed at the terminal you might try changing the
paging behavior to immediate so the diary includes the information up to the
failure line.

I am trying to debug an Octave crash and I am having difficulty determining
where it is happening
The Octave script I have created executes correctly the first time. When I
try to run it a second time (in the same Octave session) Octave crashes
hard. If I start a new Octave session, the script will run correctly (as
before)
I tried turning the diary function on but the diary is not updated before
Octave crashes.
