The doc component’s compiling problem is resolved, after I further installed some texlive packages including LaTex support. And this time, I don’t need to modify the ‘configure’ file. Thanks a lot for all help!
And, may I suggest on another issue:
I often read web material on a netbook with 800x600 display resolution. Thus on the small screen, I can not see the last few lines of left-side menu on “http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/”. Will Octave people consider modify the web page a bit, for example, to add rolling bar for the left-side menu? I am also happy and interested to contribute. Thanks.
So I installed the suggested packages, and then rebuilt with doc enabled (default configuration). However, 'make' hits the following error:
/usr/bin/texi2dvi: texinfo.tex appears to be broken, quitting.
make: *** [OctaveFAQ.dvi] Error 1
I searched Octave mailing archive, found some old records of the similar problem; however, still not clear of the solution for Ubuntu-Linux. Therefore much appreciate it if further suggestions. Thanks a lot!
