Can you easily backport the Fedora rawhide packages back into RHEL?
Fedora does have 3.6.1 packages.
In my defense I can only say that 0 and 6 kind of look similar :)
Unfortunately, I believe that RH6.2 system libraries roughly correspond
to Fedora 12. I tried to pull other packages from Fedora 16 and even
Fedora 14 repos, but they end up pulling in tons of cascading extra
dependencies, upto and including system libraries.
If I needed 3.6 on RHEL62 I would build from Fedora source RPMs for
Octave 3.6. I wrote a tutorial on building Fedora RPMs that has all the
info on setting up a RPM build environment:
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_create_a_GNU_Hello_RPM_package
Ignore the part about writing the .spec file, just
rpmbuild --rebuild octave.src.rpm
instead of rpmbuild -ba
