libpng problem

I've been running Octave on Macs for some years, currently using 10.8.5 and
updating octave-devel using MacPorts. Right now Octave won't load
dyld: Library not loaded: /opt/local/lib/libpng15.15.dylib
Referenced from: /opt/local/bin/octave
Reason: image not found
There is no libpng15.15 in /opt/local/lib but there is libpng16.16 I'm a bit
out of my depth here so I don't know how this problem has arisen. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.
