In order to test the different graphics toolkits I carried out two identical
runs (octave/MS Win):

octave_print_experience.pdf
<http://octave.1599824.n4.nabble.com/file/n4663829/octave_print_experience.pdf>

The problem with the hold on command in gnuplot seems to me to be a bug,
since in fltk-mode yielded the desired results (I can provide the code).

It is quite a drag since the results I am trying to save are excellently
printed in the octave graphical window:

I appreciate Ben´s help & hints (even on sunday evening ;-), however I was
not able to to save octave´s graphical window to a reasonable vector graphic
file. I start to doubt my somehow limited skills... I mean, my only "exotic"
requirement was a greek letter in the axis label and to have a bit control
over the letter size and the whole thing in a standard file format....

It looks like I will have to live in the fltk-mode and renounce to greek
letters and size of the labels....

A numerical poem:
Now the fifth daughter on the twelfth night
Told the first father that things weren’t right
My complexion she said is much too white
He said come here and step into the light, he says hmm you’re right
Let me tell the second mother this has been done
But the second mother was with the seventh son
And they were both out on Highway 61
("Highway 61" by Robert Zimmerman 1964)
