just FYI xlsread works fine when i tried to read the same data(which is a
part of another spreadsheet)  from the first sheet of this file
(http://octave.1599824.n4.nabble.com/file/n4664883/input.xlsx) my problem
mentioned in the above post only occurs if i want to read a new xlsx into
which data from input.xlsx has been copied.

Please try to replace __OCT_xlsx2oct__.m file with the attached one.
