Hi,

Vincent, if you give detailed instructions on how to set up igraph in Eclipse, please cc it to the list so we can put it somewhere in a wiki (if there will be any), just in case someone else also needs it. Thanks!

Also, as I understand it, when using igraph library functions, there is a run time library component. When debugging, can the debugger locate and display (in Eclipse) igraph source code when a bug involves the run time igraph library component?
I think it depends on how you compiled the igraph library. If you compiled it with debugging symbols enabled (you used the -g switch in gcc and/or you enabled debugging symbols by ./configure --enable-debug when compiling igraph), Eclipse should be able to peek into the igraph source code. At least gdb can do that and I'd be surprised if Eclipse did not use gdb at all for debugging.

Vincent,

I have a system very similar to yours... Ubuntu 7.10, Eclipse 3.3.1.1 with the C++ plugin (cdt), but I haven't used the igraph library in Eclipse yet. I'd be appreciative to know how you have integrated the igraph library into Eclipse.

Thank you
Richard

Hello Gabor,

thank you for your reply.

I am working on Ubuntu Linux version 7.10 (Linux kernel 2.6.22-14).

The gcc version on my system is: 4.1.3 (20070929)

The full output of gcc -v is:

Using built-in specs.
Target: i486-linux-gnu
Configured with: ../src/configure -v
--enable-languages=c,c++,fortran,objc,obj-c++,treelang --prefix=/usr
--enable-shared --with-system-zlib --libexecdir=/usr/lib
--without-included-gettext --enable-threads=posix --enable-nls
--with-gxx-include-dir=/usr/include/c++/4.1.3 --program-suffix=-4.1
--enable-__cxa_atexit --enable-clocale=gnu --enable-libstdcxx-debug
--enable-mpfr --enable-checking=release i486-linux-gnu
Thread model: posix
gcc version 4.1.3 20070929 (prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.2-16ubuntu2)

I use as IDE Eclipse version: 3.3.1.1 (build: M20071023-1652).

It is quite easy to set up igraph in Eclipse. If this is useful I can
send you my configuration.

When I try to compile the example igraph_cliques.c in Eclipse, I get
the following console output:

**** Build of configuration Debug for project igraph-clique-proj ****

make all
Building file: ../src/igraph-clique-proj.cpp
Invoking: GCC C++ Compiler
g++ -I/usr/local/include/igraph -O0 -g3 -Wall -c -fmessage-length=0
-MMD -MP -MF"src/igraph-clique-proj.d" -MT"src/igraph-clique-proj.d"
-o"src/igraph-clique-proj.o" "../src/igraph-clique-proj.cpp"
../src/igraph-clique-proj.cpp: In function 'int main()':
../src/igraph-clique-proj.cpp:48: warning: comparison between signed
and unsigned integer expressions
../src/igraph-clique-proj.cpp:58: error: invalid conversion from
'void*' to 'igraph_vector_t*'
make: *** [src/igraph-clique-proj.o] Error 1

Line 58 is:  v=igraph_vector_ptr_e(&result,i);

If you need other information, let me know.

Best regards,
Vincent

Hmmm, you've sent the source of the example, which is nice
but we have that too. What we don't have however is your operating
system, the version of your compiler, your compile flags,
the detailed error message. Please send us these and then we can help.

Right now I can only say that for me it works on Linux, Windows and
OSX with recent versions of gcc (eg. i've used 4.1.2 on my Linux
system).

Thanks,
Gabor

I am not sure what the reason is and I would be thankful if someone
could comment.

Best regards,
