I don't know what you mean.  Import simply commits a new revision on the
vendor branch; it doesn't truncate or reset anything.  The first time
you import you get revision 1.1.1.1, but the next time you get 1.1.1.2,
then 1.1.1.3, etc.  And you always keep your revision history, although
you won't have any detailed revision history from the customer (just
whatever comments you enter when you do the imports).
