I haven't worked with LDAP, but "server X rejected access to
/cvsroot for user Y" makes it sounds like a vanilla permissions
problem.  Perhaps some users' group memberships got lost in the
transition to LDAP, or the repo itself ended up with the wrong
owner or group when it was restored.
