Passwortauthenticationproblem

Hi,

I alway have problems with the passwortauthentication using cvs. Alter entering
th e line
address@hidden:/ > cvs -d:pserver:address@hidden:/usr/local/newrepos login
(Logging in to address@hidden)
CVS password:

I get this error

cvs [login aborted]: recv() from server linux.local: EOF
address@hidden:/ >      

In the homedirectory I've created the file .cvspass with the crypted passwort
for the user. The same I get when I try the commandline option using wincvs on
my w2k-box.

What's the problem?
