Answering my own question here.  
Yes there is but don't go looking for cvs.  That name is only there to
fool unsuspecting neophites.  he he.  I plowed thru the cvs.home.org
setup, registered etc, and clickety clacked for 30 minutes before
finally noticing the module to ask for is ccvs.

I also noticed there seems to be no easy way to get a listing of
available modules using cvs client :pserver commands.  Maybe it is a
well hidden command, but searching the entire texinfo documentation
with regexp search like: 'show.*mod'  or 'list.*mod', turned up no
commands to do that.

Maybe the -c (cat) command would do it but a new registeree doesn't
have permission to run that at the directory level where a login lands
you.

Surely there would be some simple way to list the directory a login
puts one.... no?
